JavaScript tutorial-JavaScript String Object: search() method

Array object search method

The search(string) method is similar to the match(string) method. However, the search() method returns the position of the string found rather than the array of the strings matched.

Example:

<html>
<head>
<title>Using search() method</title>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

var Mystr="I like JavaScript.";
var pos=Mystr.search("JavaScript");
document.write("The string found at "+pos);

</script>

</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
