HTML tags

When the web browser displays your web pages it will look for markup tags or html tags in the pages. HTML tags need to come in pairs like <html> and </html>. The first tag is called opening tag and the second one is called closing tag. By missing the opening tag or closing tag, it will be treated as invalid tag. All HTML tags are not case-sensitive. Either writing them in lower case or uppercase is valid and workable.

For example, to tell the browser to display “My first page” as the title of the web page, you can write:

<title>My first page</title>

<TITLE>My first page</TITLE>
